A note from Anne:

Creating pastel paintings helps me to forget the dark side of the world, and to instead focus on the beauty that surrounds us. I share my paintings to offer you the same distraction--and to transport you to a place of joy!  Pastels are sticks of colored pigment. I love the sensual, tactile feel of applying brilliantly colored powders onto the paper. I focus on landscapes, which helps me both share my love of nature and to express harmony in the world. I attempt to translate the light playing with how its brilliance contrast with the dark areas of a scene. It is the key to creating atmosphere in a painting and capturing the emotion of the viewer.

A note from Aundra:

I am always exploring traditional lines and shapes in art, pushing the limits of what can be achieved in both 2D and 3D form. I incorporate mixed media into my work to give it depth and dimension, creating pieces that go beyond conventional boundaries and offer new perspectives. My aim is not just to create visually appealing artwork, but to provide a multidimensional experience that encourages viewers to delve deeper and explore beyond the surface.

I work in ink and watercolor on rice paper, oil on canvas; watercolor on paper and charcoal/graphite on paper. My art is both representational, abstract and expressionistic.

I paint to speak the language of emotion. Watercolor is my perfect medium. I am inspired by the inexplicable beauty I see in nature, and  especially find great joy in painting the soul of flowers.   It is an interactive journey of paint and water flowing from the brush tip onto paper - an immediate response to that spark I feel when the subject first moves  me.

The interaction between people and the world around us is often the subject of my photography. I hope to evoke emotions and questions from viewers through the images I capture. My portfolio can be considered eclectic, with images ranging from landscapes, to abstracts, to architecture. My love of travel provides opportunities to explore varied places and cultures. I find sharing these experiences with others to be very satisfying.

My body of work is filled with colorful, joyful, acrylic paintings on canvas, that celebrate the world around us through images of animals, plants, and outer space scenes. Additionally, I produce mixed media artwork, recycled sculptures, and reproductions of my paintings. I create art to comfort, inspire curiosity, or provide points of introspection.

A note from Joyce:

I begin paintings without intent, without image or vision, but rather with curiosity, to see how a particular piece of collage, mark, color or shape would look like in a particular space, on a particular substrate, be it paper, canvas, board or panel.  So the first few steps are exploratory.  Once there, though, the first gesture gives rise to others and images gradually emerge, sometimes with days or months between gestures, sometimes in one sitting.  The assemblage, in a sense, “talks” to me.  or, to be more accurate, I’m interacting with the painting-to-be, either momentarily or over a long period of time.  Novelists often say that their stories & characters unfold.  So too with my paintings.

If, however, I’m working on a series—say, apples, pears, shoes, violins, tulips, or irises—that is, many paintings of the same subject but in varied guises from representative to abstract, in a variety of colors, mediums, sizes, formats and templates—then I see the same object everywhere I look, especially in unfinished paintings.  And that image, even if vague and fuzzy--be it flowers, musical instruments, triangles, whatever—guides me and drives me to complete the series.

A song is a powerful current made up of notes that flow from within and connect us to ourselves and each other.

In my art, I offer a microscopic glimpse of personal tunes in a variety of frequencies.

I use traditional materials--ink, brush, pencil, and paint to discover and record, creating visual melodies on paper.

I hope to create connections with the viewer’s own song, story and sense of mystery, fostering fresh perspectives and harmonies amidst a torrent of world change.

As an Artist I am driven by eye appeal. I have a passion for people, gain energy from my environment and am inspired by my fellow creatives. My current work is a combination of water based cold wax, acrylic, marble dust and other additives with hand made paper collage. I am an intuitive painter. I explore composition with the placement of color, shape, line, texture, pattern and mark making.

A note from Katie-Mai:

When my son was born in early 2022, it struck me that with habitat changes, increased pollution and cruel human practices, he may not have the same opportunities I have had to engage with the incredible animals we share this planet with. In becoming a mother I became a lot more aware of the world around us, and in particular the need for wildlife conservation. As a result, I decided I wanted to focus my work on wildlife.

I use minimalist backgrounds along with negative space to quiet any distractions for the viewer, and thereby encourage them to concentrate their attention on the subject: the animal. I purposely paint the animals at a smaller scale to further draw in the viewer’s focus. With my paintings, I strive to accentuate the majesty and significance of wildlife, and provoke the viewer to consider the active role we all play in wildlife conservation.

A Note From Laura:

I create paintings using leathers from invasive animals. Incorporating their natural textures into my work, I reimagine them with different colors and patterns from those given them by nature.

I mold these leathers into forms, or glue them onto canvas. I then paint them with acrylics and gold leaf to highlight the beauty of these exotic gems.

My art aims to honor these animals and transform their destruction into beauty.

Each of my paintings offers you a new reason to love the earth…(and therefore to want to protect her). These landscapes combine places I’ve witnessed, imagined and remembered. By combining tradition acrylic painting techniques with hand-painted collage elements, I mimic the rich textures and colors of the earth.  Welcome to my world of Earth spaces.

A Note From Lisa:

My intention when I paint is to have the subject reach out and pull the viewer in.  Each painting has soul.  I am inspired by nature and am driven by the vibrancy of colors, textures and the emotive feeling of the piece. I was an attorney for over twenty years before delving into the world of heart, soul and mind expressed onto canvas. I hope you enjoy my works.

A note from Lisa:

I now consider myself an Intuitive Artist after experimenting with mixed media and abstracts and discovering that "playing" is key to my creativity.  What starts out as a splash of color here or a piece of collage there, is barely noticeable in the finished piece after taking on several lives during the process.  I let my instinct guide me, and each piece that emerges is a conversation between color, texture and space, letting the viewer discover their own interpretations within the layers.

My work is dedicated to honoring the beauty and wonder of nature. I strive in every piece I create to capture the essence of its magnificent animals, plants, and minerals. When I’m creating jewelry, I’m transported to another dimension. There’s nothing like the feeling of seeing fire caress the metal—of watching it turn cherry red in order to bond and transform. Afterwards, I love the sizzle of hot metal immersed into water, and finally, the finishing touch of adding a special stone. In this way, I complete the use of nature’s elements: fire, wind, water, and earth.

In my photography, light is not merely a tool but my primary medium. I capture moments where dramatic interplays of light and shadow weave nostalgia and fantasy into tangible scenes. Each image suggests a deeper narrative, blending the real with the fanciful, extending beyond the paper into the imagination. My work is a continuous exploration of life’s poignant depths, inviting viewers to find meaning and continuity in each frame. Drawn to a moment that they can’t quite remember, but never can forget.

Nancy Aldridge

A note from Nathan:

I craft ceramic vessels to transform everyday moments. I'm fascinated with clay as a material. Shaping each piece on the wheel, I'm driven by the endless experimentation and learning, and the constant anticipation of the surprise, joy, and disappointment of the firing process. My vessels become companions, evolving alongside you as you explore their visual and textural nuances over time. They're living objects that accompany your daily rituals, turning routine into experience.

My inner guide has always been by my side as a creative thinker and problem-solver.

Now my senses---through color, texture and intensity---capture southwestern landscapes

in paintings that feature sunrises and sunsets in oils. This also includes nature paintings

such as mountain wildflowers or desert cacti abstracted in acrylics to portray one theme

"the soul of the southwest."

My photo-illustrations capture the presence of several U.S. National Parks, Monuments and Forests as they struggle against the effects of climate change and threats of industrialized exploitation. Any experience within a national park can change relatively quickly as various forces impact it in a short span of years. This intersection of my experience and the parks’ changing presence forms my own sense of neo-nostalgia – the recognition of the tenuous present through vibrant visual tones.

I have a lifelong passion for all things visual and draw inspiration from landscapes and nature, exploring elements of form, line, color and texture. My current creative journey builds on a former career as a landscape architect and a lifelong passion for capturing photographic images that evoke a sense of place. In my mixed media mosaics and painting work, I enjoy combining different materials and methods to create something new and different.

A note from Shauna:

The organic shapes of my hand-built ceramic vessels provide a blank canvas for the ancient techniques of pit and saggar firings. Many hours are spent sculpting and refining each vessel.  The final step is to put the vessels in the fire: which is unique and unpredictable, the surfaces can never be replicated.  My vessels are a play between control and surrender.

I like tools. Tools--to create decorative and functional fused-glass pieces and a rich variety of jewelry. It’s deeply satisfying to make artwork I can hold in my hands (compared to the less tangible results I achieve as a psychologist). Stop by and you can take away some warm conversations and maybe a piece of my heart.
