I love installation art, and I think of my jewelry as human installation pieces- wearable art! I am also a portrait photographer, a graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and my passion for portraying emotions in a flash of time is evident in my mixed media art, all of which include my photographs, printed using my favorite alternative printing methods and put together with clay and paint, organic, vintage, and shiny new materials.

Mosaics
I left the corporate world to pursue Landscape Architecture, a more creative profession. Then I took up Mosaics during the long Colorado winters when gardens were dormant but my creativity still needed an outlet. I love taking things that are broken and reassembling them into different patterns to give them new purpose. I enjoy working with bold colors, recycled materials and different textures to create whimsical pieces, many of which evoke a garden feel or purpose.

Welcome to "A Crane Creation"—where polymer clay, fused glass, chainmaille, beads, found objects, metal work, resin, photographs, wire crochet, passion and play join together in fabulous jewelry art and couture home dècor. The aesthetics range from: whimsical to elegant; O'Keefe to Mondrian; a whisper to a shout. By teaching jewelry-making classes, I also have the pleasure of supporting others as they explore their creativity in a fun, supportive environment.

I am loving my second career after spending over three decades as a high school yearbook and English teacher. One of my favorite subjects to teach was photography, especially as it applied to journalism. Now I concentrate on photographing individuals and families (especially children) as well as special occasions. I also instruct small groups about how to use their own DSLR cameras.

Contemporary Botanical Art
A fascination with contemporary botanical art began at the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, PA, where I eventually taught botanical watercolor technique. I strive to capture with precision the beauty of a plant at a particular moment in time. Using a combination of watercolor, colored pencil, tempura and graphite, I work to achieve a three dimensional painting. Slowly explore the detail of each subject and pause to appreciate the complexity of nature.

I paint with oil and acrylic, as well as illustrations ranging from charcoal to digital. I am inspired by quirky scenes, including figures and landscapes. I paint custom murals and portraits, or anything that sparks my imagination or someone's who wants me to bring theirs to life. My dream is to create cartoons for magazines and books, while continuing to allow my painting to evolve into who knows what!

The joy, for me, in painting is in discovering new color relationships, mixing pigments to describe them and seeing my work evolve using a visual color study method developed by the late Henry Hensche who taught at The Cape School of Art for 60 years. It was developed in an effort to understand the color keys demonstrated in Monet's series paintings. I study with Chuck Ceraso and Jen Massey, former students of Hensche.

I am a painter and woodcut printmaker. I enjoy the richness of oil paints, and the ranges of color, tone, and temperature. I also enjoy the tactile sensation of carving blocks of wood, and developing dramatic starkness of imagery in the prints made from them, whether black-and-white, colored multi-block, or hand colored prints. The themes in my artwork are landscape, domestic still life, and athletes in action.

I was 8 when I entered my first art contest. I received a BFA from SUNY Purchase in New York. I have been part of a Daily Painting movement for about five years and this makes up the body of my work. The subject matter varies, but it is the exploration of composition and the language of brush strokes that is defining my evolving style.

Several years ago I became interested in making art for the outdoors. My vision is to place art amongst the natural beauty in nature. This series of mosaic stepping stones is created with a variety of materials that embrace an outdoor environment including a combination of tile, stained glass, glass beads and my own shaped clay tiles.

I initially became a quilter as creative escape from my day job staring at a flickering screen as a software test engineer. I started with traditional bed quilts and T-shirt quilts and grew into pictorial art and abstract mixed media fiber wall hangings. Doing custom work, like pet portraits, baby, and memory quilts energizes me. When I’m working on a new project I can often be found fondling fabric in local quilt shops.

Within nature there exists a bold spirit and gentle twin. The strength and reverence in people when they are most natural inspire as well. I strive to paint this duality through indigenous portraits and places in Southwest mountains and land and water formations. Oils enable me to bring out the essence of the natural diversity in each image in texture and color using a modern impressionistic style.

I have been painting all my life using different mediums, with a background in commercial art, graphics, and advertising. I focus on exploring the feelings that a place or subject evokes. The medium and the style I employ are secondary to my pursuit of capturing the feeling. Water coloring on location, outdoors is my passion. The medium's immediacy is relentless in its capture of feelings and spirit.

My mixed media work expresses texture as color and color as texture. I work with acrylic paints and other water-based media pigments. My textures combine various rice papers, lace, silk, fibers, handmade paper and metals. My process includes mono-printing, watermarks and numerous painting techniques. Resulting AspenSPACES typically include as many as twenty layers. My formal art training began in the 1970s at the Art Students League in NYC and a BFA from the University of Bridgeport, CT. My work is held in both public and private collections around the world, including galleries in Sedona, AZ as well as Denver, Breckenridge, and Vail, CO. Commissions are always welcome.

For me it is where the camera meets technology and other modes of creative expression.

I love the versatility of digital art. After creating my images digitally I print them - on glass, acrylic, metal, or canvas. I also love bright, saturated color, but often ignore the rules of the color wheel. To me, part of the fun of painting is to place bold combinations of color in unexpected places.
Linda Wingate
Glass Art
As a three dimensional, multi-media glass artist, I start with the highest quality hand blown crystal forms. I encapsulate each piece with a rubber resist, hand draw a design, then I sandblast, carve, cut, and clean the piece to conclude the process. The addition of paint, stains, and other elements of glass in some of my pieces adds balance to its more formal elements and creates a sense of texture on the smooth, clear, surface.

I have focused on creating for much of my life. For the last 15 years I have focused mostly on painting and dabble in mixed media. My work focuses on representational forms. The two juxtaposing subjects I like most are the mechanical aspects of bikes and organic botanical forms. I'm most interested in creating the negative spaces between shapes to show reality with rich color, line and texture. Much of my most recent painting has been on commission, but most importantly I paint for the love of the process. I look forward to sharing my process and work with you during the Stapleton Open Studios.
